Don’t worry acne treatment can help cure this problem so read on.

Who is at Risk of Getting Acne?

Anyone can get acne but it is most common amongst teenagers as acne is caused by changes in hormones – due to puberty. This is the age when you want to be looking your best. The last thing you want is to have an acne face all covered in zits! But don’t be fooled, don’t think that acne discriminates, some people in their thirties, forties and even fifties do still get acne, because hormones are always changing through out your life. For those people that get acne rarely, acne treatment is readily available over the counter.

Managing Acne

Managing skin care acne problems can be easier than you think. Early treatment is the best way to prevent scars. One should also be directed to not only see their doctor but also by visiting their local health products retailer to speak to an alternative medicine practitioner. There are doctors out there that specialise in these areas. Like a dermatologist, or skin doctor. Skin care acne products can be prescribed by your doctor (for the worst cases) or your doctor may suggest over the counter prescription drugs. There are also some acne medicines that you will put straight onto your skin, or you might have to swallow some pills.

What Makes Acne Worse?

Some of the things that can make your acne worse are:

  • Changes in hormone levels in teenage girls and adult women before their period is due to start
  • Helmets, backpacks or collars that are too tight.
  • Pollution in the air and high humidity
  • Squeezing or picking your pimples
  • Scrubbing your skin too hard

Acne Skin Care

Here are some tips to care for your acne prone skin or if you already have acne:

  • Clean your skin gently. Use a mild cleanser in the morning and evening, and after heavy workouts. Do not scrub the skin as it makes acne worse.
  • Do not touch your skin. Squeezing, pinching, or picking will cause scars or dark spots on your skin.
  • Try to stay out of the sun. Many acne medicines can make people more prone to sunburn.
  • Choose your make up carefully. The make up you use needs to be free of oil. Look for the word “non-comedogenic” on the label. This means that the make up will not clog your pores up. This does not mean it will stop you from getting acne as people that use these products still get it, they just tend to reduce the chances of clogging up your pores.
